The Cal State Fullerton men’s basketball team (19-8, 10-4) went 1-1 on its final road trip of the year as they fight for second place in the Big West Conference. Going into the road trip, the Titans had won six in a row and nine of ten.
In the first game of the trip against Pacific, CSUF won on a 3-point basket from sophomore guard Isiah Umipig with 13 seconds left in the game to grind out a close victory, 69-68. Umipig finished the game with 19 points, shooting 5-for-10 from behind the arc. The Titans had trailed the entire game prior to Umipig’s game-winning shot.
The second game in the trip didn’t work out in the Titans favor as they lost a shocker to UC Davis, 78-75. CSUF never led in the game and a late rally toward the end of the game wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit. Junior guard D.J. Seeley led the Titans with 21 points.
CSUF will complete its regular season with home games against Cal State Northridge on Wednesday and against rival Long Beach State on Saturday.
The Titans are tied with UC Santa Barbara for second place in the conference.
